(iii) A loving and soft speaking spouse

(iv) Wise, obedient and kind children

(v) Knowledge and expertise in the profession which yields regular income.

It’s going to remain relevant and timeless.

You have already answered

“Oh! Shhhh….. Really?”
One of the things I find awkward about interviewing is when towards the end, I ask the candidate, “Do you have any questions for me?” and the person says, “Not for now. You have almost answered everything.”
My head starts spinning, “Really!? I have been only asking questions since the interview began. When did I answer your questions?”
I always expect the candidates should come prepared with questions. The questions like:
Get clarity related to the job role so that you know the expectations right from the beginning.
You should know if they had this position earlier and what happened to the earlier guy on the role.
It would help if you got some ideas about the company’s vision and growth plan.
Ask about the company culture and work rules, if any.
And you should ask questions that can help you gauge what kind of people you are going to work with when you join the company.

Whether you are looking for an internship or a fresher job, These questions will help you make a better decision about what you can expect when you join them. Whether it is the kind of setup you want to associate to build your career and whether you should look for a better opportunity.

Next time, when you appear for the interview, you should be prepared to ask questions.

Life is What You Make It

Last week we did a survey in our office — we asked people how do you feel working with us by voting anonymously.
65% responded Happy
20% responded Worried
and 15% responded Sad

I told them that those who feel sad should find a better place where they can turn happy because I feel sadness cannot be repaired and we are not in the business of repairing sadness. To those who felt worried, I asked them to have an appointment to discuss the way for them to turn happy.

I made a commitment to employees that let’s work together to make happy ones more happier and worried ones to turn happy while listening to their concerns and solving it.

One employee dropped me an email. We spoke and what I discovered was that the employee was worried because she was not happy with her performance and she had doubts about her own capabilities of becoming successful in her current role. I drew the analogy from the marriage system and said to her, “We marry with so much excitement but, all the fun fades so quickly. However, we don’t give up on the relationship. We gradually strengthen the relationship and enrich each other’s life with commitment to make it a fulfilling one together. If you start thinking about the job also like a marriage, it will turn out to be a much more fun and rewarding thing to pursue. Life is what you make it. It’s not a ready-to-eat food platter from which you can choose to eat only what you like.”

I could see a smile and peace on the face and hope that next month our rate of happy employees will increase.

If you want to know how to conduct similar exercise in your office, please drop me your message.

Choosing between self-will and God’s will

Difficult. Because, unless you leave the self, destroy the self, how else can you know the will of the God? How can a drop of water know about the sea unless it loses itself into the ocean?

Unless you lose yourself, you will not know what the will of God is. Once you have surrendered,

You will have no desire, you will have no desire to know either, there is no question to know, and then you will have no feeling to burden yourself to fulfill your desire either.

You are just a resource for the source to act as per the will of the source.

तेरा तुझको सौंप दे क्या लागत है मोर
मेरा मुझसे कुछ नाही है जो होवत सो तोर

The simple secret to stand out

Last week I was at a wedding function and one invitee approached me stating, “I read your every post and feel so much enchanted. Thanks for continuously guiding us.”

I’ve been reading data, observing and analyzing the whole philosophy of writing, sharing and getting likes/comments on online media. Only 2% people read and less than 2% of 2% likes or comments on your post. And when I don’t see likes/comments I start doubting – maybe something is wrong in my writing, talking and thinking.

Then I think to please more people.. To increase those 2% and try to please everyone. I get clouded by doubts – would I stop pleasing anyone if I lose my true voice? I get this answer – I’m victimizing the self by trying to sound like trying to please everybody else and end up losing my 2% true fans.

And that’s how I wished to stand out. By focusing on my 2%. By focusing on my true fans. By ignoring the data and by being myself. And by not trying to be someone I’m not.

I realize that patience is the virtue while being myself and I can stand out only by talking in my own true voice and not in someone else’s voice.
Because everybody else’s voice is already taken..

Best friend, Next best friend and Least intimate friend.

Your three friends: best friend, next best friend and least intimate friend.

When faced with the trouble, your best friend denies the support citing his own fears and inabilities, the next best friend comes forward only for a partial support and the least intimate friend stands like a wall to support you to handle the crisis.

Make a list of all your friends, categorise them into these three categories, and ask yourself who’s who?

What does it mean to be a good friend?

What quality do you think a good friend should have? How do you show that to your friends?

What can you do to make new good friends?

How do you keep the friends you already have?

What do you do when you see your friend not doing something right?

How do you express your admiration and gratitude to your friend?

My formula for a good friend is that I am able to count them on my fingers.

I treat my friends like my family. I share, enjoy, cherish and support them for whatever it may take.

You are the sum total of five friends you have in your life. Set your premise on respect, mutual success, gratitude and trust in your friendship. And before you expect your friend to be good, you, yourself be that friend you want to have in this world.

Do something for your own joy

I am not starving nor do I have seventeen children to feed.

A little girl was selling flowers outside the music hall in New York. She was scolded by an onlooker at the site.

The little girl replied, ” I am not starving nor do I have seventeen children to feed.”

She continued, ” I sell flowers because I love flowers and enjoy selling them. If you care to buy, they are twenty-five cents each. If you are not interested, that is your business. God speed you on your way.”
She emptied five baskets in fifteen minutes.

Success is the highest among all wealth, but it’s difficult

Many things make us happy, but the happiness that comes when we achieve success or victory in a contest is beyond any comparison. It’s like you see the fulfillment of your dreams and desires in an instant. This fulfillment is a kind of spiritual dose which exponentially enhances our will.

Victory does not come alone — it brings along the recognition, prize and prosperity as well. The glam and glare of which shows up in our life and our living. The world starts bowing their head to show up the gratitude for their success.

Possession of wealth alone makes the person free from many of his shortcomings and sins. Those who win get reckoned at their highest high and they offer prayer like a God. Those who have attained the power, they are considered the accomplished one.

Those who have shown the miraculous achievement, they are exemplified as the source of inspiration.

Among all the wealth that humanity desires to attain, success is the highest among all. Everyone aims to achieve success. However there are only a select few who accomplish it.

Because what is great is also difficult and it requires a lot of effort to make it. It requires commitment, guts, hard work, and focus on getting it.

It is no less than performing a Yagya. One who performs their duty following the righteous path with full devotion achieves the success.

You are not good enough

“I won’t have been into this mess If I’d have done better in my school.”

“I won’t have got the poor appraisal if I’d have got things done.”

“I wish, I’d have understood my spouse better for us to have a cordial relationship.”

“I wish I’d have known that one thing which could have bailed me out of this situation.”

There are so many such feelings when you face adversity, especially when it strikes most at you. And you start looking inwardly for the controls you’d have imposed on yourself to make things go the right way.

The way to come out is not to drain yourself in thinking what went wrong, but to;

Find one thing which was so good that has kept you floating and how can you do it more to emerge stronger.

Think of the way you treated people while handling adversity. If you did something wrong, seek an apology. If I have offended you in any way, knowingly or unknowingly, in thought, word or deed, then I seek your forgiveness.

Don’t keep drumming up your failure. Even it was you who messed it up, get up and get going. Give yourself an another chance to try, and you might win.

Think and Grow Rich

This classical book was written around 75 years ago and is in the list of all time bestsellers.

What is noticeable here is the title of the book “THINK AND GROW RICH.”

When I glance through our scriptures Ved talks about chanting the hymns to grow rich, Ramayan emphasises on Vedic rituals along with righteous living as a way to grow rich, but Gita tells us to drop everything and focus on our actions alone. These three scriptures came in three different times and it clearly indicates the evolutions that took place over a period of time to grow rich in that specific era.

I believe growing rich is a game of intellectual sports in which you need to think, you need to strategise and you need to act. This is the mindset you need now to keep growing rich.

Stop judging for look and appearance

A man eager to meet a Holy Saint and garner his blessings, visited his hutment situated atop a mountain. When he arrived near the hutment, he saw an old man standing on the entrance waiting for him. The old man greeted him with smile.

“I would like to see the wise Holy Man,” he said to the old man.

The old man smiled and led him inside. As they walked through the house, the man from the village looked around eagerly searching for the Holy Saint.

Not finding the Holy Saint around, he quizzed, “I want to see the Holy Saint, but it seems he is not here!”
“You already have,” said the old man. “Everyone you may meet in life, even if they appear plain and insignificant… see each of them as a wise Holy Man. If you do this, then whatever problem you brought here today will be solved.”

Viewpoint Changes Your Perspective

A famous writer was in his study room. He picked up his pen and started writing:

Last year, I had surgery and my gall bladder was removed. I had to stay stuck to the bed due to this surgery for a long time.

The same year I reached the age of 60 years and had to give up my favourite job. I had spent 30 years of my life in this publishing company.

The same year I experienced the sorrow of the death of my father.

And in the same year my son failed in his medical exam because he had a car accident. He had to stay in bed at hospital with the cast on for several days. The destruction of car was another loss.

At the end he wrote: Alas! It was such a bad year!!

When the writer’s wife entered the room, she found he husband looking sad lost in his thoughts. From behind his back she read what was written on the paper. She left the room silently and came back with another paper and placed it on the side of her husband’s writing.

When the writer saw this paper, he found this written on it:

Last year I finally got rid of my gall bladder due to which I had spent years in pain.

I turned 60 with sound health and got retired from my job. Now I can utilize my time to write something better with more focus and peace.

The same year my father, at the age of 95, without depending on anyone or without any critical condition met his Creator.

The same year, God blessed my son with a new life. My car was destroyed but my son stayed alive without getting any disability. At the end she wrote:
This year was an immense blessing of God and it passed well!!

The same incidents but different viewpoints. If we ponder with this viewpoint that what could have happened more, we would truly become thankful to the Almighty.

Moral : In daily lives we must see that its not happiness that makes us grateful but gratefulness that makes us happy.

There is always, always, always something to be thankful for.
Stay Blessed 

Thoughts on Happiness

What is happiness? How do we get it? If happiness is a must, why aren’t we happy?
Everyone got only one goal – to have a happy life. That’s it. That’s the goal. Nothing more, nothing else. And we know happy people are;
Have more friends.
Live healthy life.
Have better standing in the society and contribute more for the common good.
Get more done everyday.
As a part of my workshops, I run an activity. Ask people to go inside a room and vote, “How do they feel?”
I have yet not seen anyplace where more than 40% people voted for “Happy”.
For me, “happiness is the outcome of being engaged in a life in which you can live your own dream, pursue your own aspiration, and live a meaningful life.Connect. Contribute. Move. Open. Risk. Feel. Do.”

Do well keeping things simple

It’s too complicated. Each one of us nudge when faced with something that do not provide the ease of use.

In earlier notion, stuffing features to influence the mind of a buyer was considered important. Many of the software had so many features that we could hardly use.

Making things work and work well is highly satisfying and attention to usability, convenience, engagement and enriching experience matters more than ever.

Keeping thing simple gives us the room to get to the market faster, step back, room to breathe, and focus on the quality and fineness of things that we produce.
